TREFOLINI | TREFOLONI

Trefolini, practically unique, is probably due to a mistake of transcrizioine of Trefoloni, which is typically Tuscan, Dell'aretino, and in particular of San Giovanni Valdarno, Cavriglia and Montevarchi, with strains also in Siena, Sesto Fiorentino in the Florentine and Quarrata in Pistoiese, it could be derived from a nickname originating from the archaic strand (twisted wire with three or more heads, with which the ropes are constructed) and could indicate the activity of Roper carried out by the founder, but it is not possible to exclude also the possibility that derives instead from the noun trefola, trifola or Trufola (truffle).
