TORTORICI | TORTURICI | TURTORICI | TURTULICI | TURTURICI

Tortured and turtoric are absolutely very rare, these are modified forms of the turturic and Tortoric surnames, particularly widespread in Sciacca and Caltabellotta in Agrigentino and Trabia in Palermo, Tortorici is typical of Ribera, Sciacca, Agrigento and Caltabellotta always in the Agrigentino, of San Marco D'alunzio in Messina, Castelvetrano in Trapani, but especially Palermo, Turtulici, very rare, is Ragusano, Comiso and Ragusa, all these surnames derive from the toponym Tortorici in the Messinese, whose name would appear to be derived from Turris Orice (name of the princess who would have founded the city).
