Both Friulani, Vidon is very rare, Vidoni is specific to the area of Udine, Forgaria in Friuli and Tarcento, but it is also present in Trieste, derive from dialectal modifications of the name Vito, or the name Guido in the Germanic form Wido, of this use we have an example in A Charta Venditionis of 1285 in Piran, then part of the Venetian Republic, now in Slovenia: "... Ibique Vidonus filius Leonardi Nise for se suosque herides ab odie in Antea dedit, vendidit atque tradidit Iohane Bono wine et suis heridibus medietatem vnius furnum et peciam vnam terre.... ".
