Villari has a log in Baronissi, Salerno, Pellezzano and Fisciano nel Salernitano, in Naples, a large strain in Messina, with appearances also in Roccalumera, Alì Terme, Villafranca Tirrena and Giardini Naxos in Messina, Catania, Palermo and Syracuse, and one in the Reggio Calabria a Sant'Eufemia d'aspromonte, Villa San Giovanni and Roccella Ionica, should derive from a nickname originating from the Latin term villarius (inhabitant of a house or country of the countryside), or for betacismo from the Greek word billares with the same meaning.
