ZAMENGHI | ZAMENGO

Zamenghi, almost unique, is probably due to an alteration of Zamengo, which is widespread in the Venetian, Salzano, Venice, Mirano, Santa Maria di Sala, Spinea, Gavago, Cavallino Tre harbours and Noale, and that should derive from an altered form of the Latin name Zama (see ZAMIN), but it is also possible to derive from a nickname based on the Venetian dialect of archaic Zamengo for Zanco (left-handed).
