Colantoni is specific to the area that includes Terni and Stroncone (TR), Abruzzo, in particular Villetta Barrea (AQ) and L'Aquila and Pescara, and Lazio in Rome above all, with a stock also in San Mauro Castelverde ( PA), Colantonio is typical of Abruzzo, in the Chieti area of Casalanguida, Vasto, Atessa, Paglieta and Lanciano and in the Pescara area of Pescara and Loreto Aprutino, of the Lazio region of Rome and Arce in the frusinate and of the Neapolitan area of Torre del Greco and Naples, Colantuoni is typical of the area of Pietradefusi, Montemiletto and Venticano (AV), Colantuono has a Lazio stock between the provinces of Rome and Latina, a Molise lineage and a main one between the provinces of Naples and Avellino, deriving from the compound name Nicola Antonio through the apheresis of the first and the dialectal modification of the second, traces of this use we find in Campania since 1500, in a deed of 1524 we read: "... P. Angelo de Giaquinto, Colantuono de Giliberto, Bello de Giliberto , Luisi de Civita de Cippaloni ... ". additions provided by Andrea Ferreri - Milan Colantuono is based on the name Nicola (of which Cola is the apheretic hypochoristic) together with the name Antonio (of which Antuono is a modification). Widespread in Campania in Naples and prov. (Torre del Greco, Ercolano) and in the province of Avellino (Villanova del Battista, Lioni). Other stocks in Lazio in Rome and prov. (Anzio, Fiumicino) and in the province of Latina (Fondi, Monte San Biagio); In Molise in the province of Campobasso (Spinete) and of Isernia (Frosolone, Cerro al Volturno); in Puglia in the province of Bari (Grumo Appula) and in Foggia and the province (Orta Nova); In Abruzzo in the province of Chieti (Tollo). A nucleus in Salandra (Matera).
