FLUMIAN | FLUMIANI

Flumian, very very rare, is typical of the Pordenone area on the border with the Venetian and Treviso areas, Flumiani, a less rare moment, is instead specific to the Udine area, they should both derive, directly or from its Venetian truncated form, from the name Flumiano, saint to whom the Venetian people were particularly devoted, in the Istoria Sancti Allexi written in Veneto in 1439 reads: "O King of the highest glory Lord, heavenly father and savior dolze, to your name I want to say a sermon de Alexio, that verzene confessore. Alexio fo alto Romano, fiolo that de sancto King Flumiano. "I know name el fo glorificado ...". We find traces of these surnames in Udine in a contract of 1521 where a certain Michele Flumiano appears and in Oderzo where the notary Giacomo Flumian or Flumiano works from 1569 to 1574.
