PAOLUCCI

Paolucci is specific to the central Italian regions, it derives from modifications of the Latin cognomen Paulus (small). additions and coats of arms provided by Fabio Paolucci An ancient and noble family who moved from Todi to Perugia in Spello. From Perugia the firstborn branch settled in Pesaro and then in Modena. From Pesaro a branch settled at the beginning of the seventeenth century in the Sannio at Colle Sannita and from there moved to Salerno, Benevento and Naples. According to legend, the Paoluccis were descended from Paoluccio Anafesto, the first Doge of Venice. Another legend links them to a Paoluccio d'Agato or Agatone that according to ancient Annals would have represented the city of Perugia in 760 d. C. in a border dispute between the three cities of Perugia, Spoleto and Todi.
