Titolo: Nobles
Traccia araldica della famiglia: Arzaga
Corona nobiliare Arzaga Ancient and noble Spanish family, originally from the town of Azkoitia, the judicial district of Azpeitia, Guipuzcoa, of clear and ancestral virtue, that has worldwide spread, over the centuries. The first references to the family already appear on the end of the twelfth century, about the re-population of Alava, being one of the families that founded Vitoria. Some members of the family were also among the knights of the expedition of D. Pedro de Ursua in search of El Dorado in the XVI century. According to some heraldic reconstructions, the Arzaga family of Spain would be of the same line as the Arzaga or Arzago of Italy and, more precisely, of Lombardy. noble in 1771, and the other from Antonio in 1770. From the analysis of colours and symbols of the coat of arms we can have more information about the family virtues. 1) Or ("gold") refers to the most noble metal and it is symbol of generosity and elevation of the mind; the castle has often been granted to one who has faithfully held a castle for his sovereign, or who has captured on by force or stratagem. The castle signifies spiritual power and vigilance on the watch as well as home and safety. The tower is very similar to this and is an emblem of grandeur and society. It is a symbol of defence and of a steadfast individual. the eagle, that frequently appears Sable (coloured black), symbolizes immortality, courage and strength. It is considered to be the king of the air and the messenger of the highest Gods; the tincture gules ("red") is symbol of strength and power but also fervent love for God; the blackberries, like the bramble, symbolize independence. 2) The gold metal ("or) is symbol of the Sun, the origin of life and its spiritual characteristics correspond to faith, clemency, temperance, charity and justice. In addition it refers to the idea of love, happiness and glory, as it is the noblest of metals; in heraldry, red is used to indicate courage; the colour azure symbolizes water, the continuity of life, it is a colour of nobility, beauty, chastity and fidelity; the shell ("escallop") symbolizes protection of providence and became popular as a token of pilgrimage to the shrine of Santiago de Compostela. Family names so old, without any doubt, honour not only the families but also the cities that welcomed them; seems to be, in fact, very worthy living members of this family which, with much decorum, carry this noble surname, which has had several illustrious persons.
