Origine del cognome Poinsignon, provenienza: France

Titolo: Nobles
Traccia araldica della famiglia: Poinsignon
Corona nobiliare Poinsignon
Ancient and noble French family, originally from Normandy, of clear and ancestral virtue, that has worldwide spread, over the centuries. According to many genealogists, the origin of this surname should be sought in a variaton of Poinse, name of baptism and patronymic, derived from the Latin name "Pontius", popularized by two saints of the second century. Moreover, this family, in all ages, always stood out, thanks to the prominent figures, which gave birth, in the public service, in the liberal professions and in the military service. Among these, without undervalue the omitted, we would like to mention: Jean Nicolas, landowner in Normandy, flourishing in 1513; Henri Antoine, jurist in both laws, flourishing in Rouen, in 1536; Nicolas, jurist, flourishing in Le Havre, in 1545; Adolphe, lieutenant, flourishing in Rouen, in 1562; Nicolas Louis, "mestre de camp", flourishing in 1577; Charles, notary and counsellor in Rouen, flourishing in 1588; Jacques, landowner,... flourishing in Le Havre, in 1601; George, landowner, flourishing in 1602; Bernard, distinguished doctor of law, flourishing in Paris, in 1609; François, canon, theologian and apostolic commissioner, flourishing in 1617; François Nicolas, landowner and jurist, flourishing in Rouen in 1632; Jacques, "secrétaire du roi", flourishing in 1644; Eugene Charles, doctor in both laws, living Rouen, in 1675; Eugene François, landowner in Normandy, living in 1707; Nicolas Charles, captain of arms, flourishing in 1714. Another branch of the family moved to Woëvre, a natural region of Lorraine in north-eastern France. It forms part of Lorraine plateau and lies largely in the department of Meuse. Family names so old, without any doubt, honour not only the families but also the cities that welcomed them; seems to be, in fact, very worthy the living members of this family which, with much decorum, carry this noble surname, which has had several illustrious persons.
