Origine del cognome Tragni, provenienza: Italy

Titolo: Nobles - Patricians - Barons
Traccia araldica della famiglia: Tragni
Corona nobiliare Tragni Ancient and notable family from Puglia, of clear and ancestral virtue, that has worldwide spread, over the centuries. According to what has been handed down, the Tragni family is a branch of the noble House Ragni that changed surname to escape persecution between Guelph and Ghibellines. From the census of the Barons and Neapolitan feudalists for the year 1670, the House was in the lists of powerful barons of the Province of Bari. It extended its dominion over vast lands and was held in high honour by the Normans and the Swabians, the Angevins and the Aragonese from which it had feuds and privileges in return for services rendered. A baronial branch of the House settled in Giovinazzo and was admitted to Patrician. Moreover, this family, in all ages, always stood out, thanks to the prominent figures which gave birth, in the public service, in the liberal professions and in... Continuathe military service. Among these, without undervalue the omitted, we would like to mention: Tommaso, landowner in Puglia, flourishing in 1512; Gio. Batta, militiaman, who distinguished himself, under the Aragon flag, in the war of Otranto against the Ottomans; Luigi, landowner, flourishing in Bari, in 1502; Federico, jurist, flourishing in Bari, in 1528; Agostino, landowner, flourishing in Giovinazzo, in 1544; Alessandro, who distinguished himself in the defense of Malta against the Turks, in 1565; Giuseppe, doctor in both laws, flourishing in Bari, in 1580; Fr. Celestino, of the Order of Minors Reformed, flourishing in 1614; Benedetto, landowner, flourishing in Bari, in 1641; Fr. Federico, apostolic commissioner in Spain, flourishing in 1643; Gio. Batta, who served the King of Spain during the revolt of Masaniello, in 1647; Pasquale, jurist, living in Naples, in 1676; Luigi, landowner, flourishing in Giovinazzo, in 1708; Alessandro, doctor in both laws, living in Naples, in 1769; Giuseppe, soldier, who participated in the campaign of 1860/61 for the defence of the Kingdom of Two Sicilies. Lacking the original descriptions of the family coats of arms, they have been reconstructed based on heraldic conjecture. Family names so old, without any doubt honour not only families but also the cities that welcomed them; seems to be, in fact, very worthy the living members of this family which, with much decorum, carry this noble surname, which has had several illustrious members.
