The Doman family represents an ancient Germanic family whose existence has been documented since the fourteenth century and which has distinguished itself over time by two main lines with different coats of arms. An outstanding person in this house was Wilhelm Domann, who worked as Schultheiß, i.e. as ducal scultetus, and as assessor, i.e. as judicial assessor, at the Leineberg district court. In this capacity, he exercised both executive and deliberative powers on behalf of the Duchy of Brunswick-Lüneburg and worked on the Leineberg, a historic hill near Göttingen, which served as the seat of a district court that succeeded the old open-air courts. Domann acted as a link between the central authorities and the local territory by being responsible for the jurisdiction and administration of taxes in the Leine Valley. Other well-known representatives of the family include Hans Domann, who is attested in Überlingen in 1350, Cuntzli Domann, a statesman and archbishop living in Urach in 1383, and Adelbero, who served as pastor of Kassel in 1537. ...
