Linaje de Álava. Tomó su nombre de la villa de A., del partido judicial de Amurrio, en la que tuvo su solar. Se extendió por el valle de Ayala, y pasó a Burgos y a la Rioja. Jaime de A. sirvió al rey aragonés don Jaime I en la conquista de Valencia, y aun cuando dice mosén Jaime Febrer que procede de Galicia, entendemos que dicho cronista equivocó la naturaleza de ese guerrero, pues los A. del reino de Valencia, de los que se estiman fue progenitor dicho caballero, probaron, andando el tiempo, con sus ejecutorias, que descendían de la casa de este apellido de la villa de Belorado (Burgos), dimanada del solar de Álava. Añade mosén Jaime Febrer que con el mencionado guerrero A. llegaron al reino de Valencia su hijo y su sobrino, y que el rey don Jaime premió los grandes servicios que los tres le habían prestado, dándoles tierra en el pueblo de Busot, entre Alicante y Jijona, y en la villa de Benimasot, del partido judicial de Alcoy. Sus descendientes quedaron establecidos en dicho reino y formaron la rama valenciana de notorios hijosdalgo. De ella fue mosén Pedro de A., correo mayor de la ciudad y reino de Valencia, al que cita Martín de Viciana, y del que dice que gozó privilegio de caballero, dado en Madrid, el 28 de septiembre de 1568. Añade este autor que el citado Pedro era hidalgo de solar conocido, sito en la villa de Belorado (Burgos). ...
