Dicen algunos autores que este linaje es originariamente navarro, hallándose su solar primitivo en la villa de Leiza, del partido judicial de Pamplona, a donde llegó del pueblo de Ascarat, Benabarre, Baja Navarra (Francia), fuente total de la progenie. Otros tratadistas afirman, y consta también así en la Nobleza Executoriada de Navarra, que procede del lugar de A., del Ayuntamiento de Araiz y partido judicial de Pamplona. Juan de A., Señor del lugar de A., en Navarra, fué padre de Martín Francisco de A., y éste de José Francisco y de Matías de A., Caballeros de la Orden de Santiago, desde 1761. Una rama pasó a la villa de Anzuola, del partido judicial de Vergara (Guipúzcoa), y de ella fué Gabriel Raimundo de A. y Lascurain, bautizado en Anzuola el 1º de Octubre de 1714. Muy joven marchó a la Habana, donde vivió muchos años y después dió poder para que la villa de Anzuola le declarase hijodalgo y le admitiese como tal a los empleos honorificos. Obtuvo sentencia favorable el 18 de Junio de 1784. llevando el asunto a la Chancillería de Valladolid, obtuvo Real provisión de hidalguía el 11 de Octubre de 1786.
