Antica ed assai nobile famiglia veneta, di chiara ed avita virtù, propagatasi, nel corso dei secoli, in diverse regioni d'Italia. Da Spalato, Zorzi (Giorgio), il capostipite, andò in Murano nel 1483 ed ivi fondò una fornace nella contrada Santo Stefano. Tra il 1503 ed il 1504, Zorzi divenne Gastaldo dell'arte vetraria e costruì la Cappella Ballarin nella Chiesa di San Pietro Martire, ove fu sepolto nell'anno 1506.
