Famiglia originaria di Castelponzone nel Cremonese, dove esercitava la mercatura. Da Giuseppe e Maria Cerioli nacque Benigno Augusto(1801-1873), assessore municipale di Milano, segretario onorario di Governo presso l'I.R. Magistrato Camerale. Nel 1838 chiese, in via di grazia, la nobiltà austriaca col predicato di Castelponzone, ma l'istanza con Sovrana Risoluzione 22 febbraio 1839 non venne accolta. Cavaliere dell'Ordine della Corona di Ferro di terza Classe fu creato cavaliere dell'Impero Austriaco coi discendenti d'ambo i sessi, col predicato "de Ceriali", con diploma 9 gennaio 1852. Dalla sua unione con Amalia Goltara nacquero tre figli: Maria (dec. 1874) sposata con Antonio Banfi, Beatrice (dec. 1876) moglie del nobile Giuseppe Manata ed Antonietta (n. 1847) consorte dal 1868 del marchese don Emilio Sommariva patrizio di Lodi. La casata è estinta ne' maschi. La famiglia è iscritta nell'El. Uff. Nob. Ital. del 1933, col titolo di Cavaliere dell'Impero Austriaco (mf.), col Predicato di Ceriali (mf.) ...
