La noble e ilustre Casa de C. en Castilla tomó nombre de la villa de Cisneros (de la cual fueron Señores sus caballeros), sita en Tierra de Campos y perteneciente hoy al partido judicial de Frechilla (Palencia). Gozó desde un principio de gran lustre y autoridad, y de ella desciende la también famosa Casa de Girón. Según Salazar y Castro y otros autores fué tronco del linaje el Infante Don Pelayo Fruela, el Diácono (hijo del Infante Don Aznar Fruela y nieto del Rey Don Fruela II de León), que casó con doña Aldonza (hija del Infante Don Ordoño, el ciego, y de doña Cristina). De esta unión nació, entre otros hijos, Pelayo Peláez, Señor de C., que aparece confirmando privilegios en 1111, y fué padre del Conde D. Gonzalo Peláez, Señor de Cisneros por los años de 1131, este caballero poseyó también los Señoríos de Astorga y Buanga, Murió despojado de sus bienes en 1133, dejando un hijo, que se llamó Rodrigo González, que era Señor, en parte, de C. y aparece confirmando privilegios en 1145, le sucedió su hijo. Gonzalo Rodríguez, Ricohombre y Señor de Cisneros y de la Bureba en 1158. Procreó a Rodrigo González de C., Señor de Cisneros, que murió en la batalla de Alarcos en 1195. En su esposa doña Mayor tuvo varios hijos, siendo el primogénito Gonzalo Ruiz Girón, que fué Ricohombre y Señor de Frechilla, Astudillo, Carrión, C. y Girón y Mayordomo mayor del Rey Don Fernando III el Santo. En este caballero aparecen unidos los dos Señoríos de Cisneros y Girón. Otra casa muy antigua. Juan de C., natural de Sevilla hijo de Francisco de Orozco y de Constanza de Sayaveda, con su mujer Elvira de Gallegos, hija de Juan Gallegos y de Catalina López, y sus hijos Francisco y Mariana, nombrado Contable por decreto de la Compañía de Indias el 18 junio 1577, emprendió viaje a Nueva España el 15 mayo 1578 desde el puerto de Sevilla, según consta en el Archivo General de Indias.
