Muy antiguo linaje de Cataluña. Dalmacio de C. sirvió al conde de Barcelona, Borrell, que a la sazón luchada contra los agarenos. De este caballero descendieron otros del mismo apellido que radicaron en Cataluña, entre ellos Guillermo de C., que en el año de 1139 acompañó al conde Ramón Berenguer en algunas de sus expediciones guerreras. Otro Guillermo de C. se halló en 1209 en la toma de Mallorca. Algunos caballeros de este linaje se establecieron en aquellos remotos tiempos en la antigua veguería de Lérida y dieron nombre al lugar de Claramunt, del partido judicial de Tremp, en dicha provincia. Uno de ellos, llamado Bernardo de C., fue señor del lugar de Castellet, en el mismo partido de Tremp, y de otros lugares del condado de Pallars, enclavado igualmente en la provincia de Lérida. Pasó luego a establecerse en la ciudad de Igualada (Barcelona). Estuvo después en el sitio y toma de Játiva (Valencia) en 1240 y fue allí heredado, dejando sucesores que continuaron en Játiva su apellido. De esta ciudad era Miguel Onofre de C., que casó con doña Angela Tallada, también natural de Játiva, y fueron padres de Cristóbal Onofre C. y de Magdalena de C., esposa de Honorato Figuerola.También se avecindó en Igualada y fundó allí casa solar de su apellido Jaime de C., señor del castillo de la Vega, al que dio su nombre. Pasó a la conquista de Valencia sirviendo al rey don Jaime I de Aragón, y lo cita, entre otros tratadistas, mosén Jaime Febrer. ...
