Antica ed assai nobile famiglia veneta, domiciliata in Oderzo, propagatasi, nel corso dei secoli, in diverse regioni d'Italia. L'origine di tal cognominizzazione, al dir di autorevoli genealogisti, andrebbe ricercata in una modificazione del toponimo Fregona di Canale d'Agordo, nel bellunese, probabilmente, luogo natio di un, oggi ignoto, capostipite. In ogni modo, il fregio della nobiltà di tal casato deriva dalla sua aggregazione, in persona di Giovanni, in data 4 settembre 1754, al nobile Consiglio di Oderzo, oggi cessato. La sua aggregazione fu approvata con ducale veneta 6 maggio 1755, dal Senato Veneto. Benedetto, di Giovanni e della signora marchesa Agnese Polesini, congiuntosi in matrimonio il 27 ottobre 1806 con la nobile signora Chiara Pigozzi, ottenne la conferma della Nobiltà con Sovrana Risoluzione Austriaca 26 ottobre 1822.
