Nobility crown IerardiAntica ed assai nobile famiglia veneziana, benché oriunda dai territori nei pressi dell'odierna città marchigiana di Fano, conosciuta come Girardi o Ierardi, propagatasi, nel corso dei secoli, in diverse regioni italiane ed anche nel resto del mondo. L'origine di tal cognominizzazione, al dir di autorevoli genealogisti, andrebbe ricercata nel nome medioevale germanico "Gerhart" o nel nome normanno "Geraldus". In ogni modo, la famiglia arrivò in Venezia nel 970 ed ivi i suoi membri fecero fortuna grazie all'abilità nelle attività commerciali e finanziarie. Ascritti sin da subito al patriziato e membri del Maggior Consiglio della Serenissima prima della Serrata, ne furono successivamente esclusi. Grazie però ai meriti e al valore di Lorenzo e Francesco nella Guerra di Chioggia, furono riammessi nel 1381. Altra famiglia.
