English

This is largely because in the Authorised version of the Bible (1611) the form 'James' is used in the NewTestament as the name of two of Christ's appostles ('James' the brother of 'John' and 'James' the brother of 'Andrew'). whereas the in the Old Testament the brother of Esau is called 'Jacob'. Compiled information from Historical and Private archive's has confirmed that the surname 'James' and or it's variant's, dates as far back as Edward III reign, were a 'Walter James' , from Salop, England, is recorded. He arrived in Philadelphia , aboard the ship named 'Charming Nancy', from the Port of Bristol on the 21st of August 1774. He was a hooper by trade but served as a servant. Today, 'James' is the '82nd' most common surname in North America. ...
