Nobility crown MarandatDans les XVIème et XVIIème siècles, le nom de Marandat se voit accompagné des qualifications de messire et d'écuyer; en 1712, il figure aussi dans un Etat des revenus de la noblesse, en 1712, élection de Périgueux, commune de Varaignes (Nontronnais); et dans la liste des émigrés du Périgord, du district de Nontron, en 93, on voit un membre de cette famille qualifié ci-devant noble. En 1590, Robin Marandat servit à Pons, en Saintonge, en qualité de gentilhomme, sous les ordres de Nicolas de Bonnefound, sieur de Bretauville, gentilhomme ordinaire de la chambre du roi Henry IV, et gouverneur de la ville de Pons et pays circonvoisins, Saintonge et Angoulême (Charent, Gironde) etc.; en 1594, par lettres patentes du 30 septembre, le même Henry IV donna à son très cher et bien aimé le sire de Marandat, gentilhomme de la suite de son très cher couisin le maréchal de Biron, pour sa brillante conduite devant Laon, où il fut grièvamant blessé, une pension de mille écus (titre signé du roi); Jean-Baptiste, écuyer, sieur du Cousset, était officier des gendarmes de la garde ordinaire du roi et chevalier de l'Ordre royal et militaire de Saint-Louis; Jean-Joseph, écuyer, seigneur de Bellevue, son fils, servit également dans les gendarmes de la garde ordinaire de S.M.; le fils de ce dernier émigra. ...
