Nel 1333 troviamo nel supremo magistrato di Siena, Piccolo, di Scotto. La famiglia possedeva in Maremma il castello della Marsigliana, da cui forse presero il nome. Comperarono nel 1345, dai conti Aldobrandeschi, coi quali erano uniti da vincoli di parentela, la signoria di Collecchio, per la quale offrivano ogni anno un cero alla cattedrale di Siena nella festa dell'Assunzione.
