Nobility crown MerezFamille originaire de Saint-Péray, connue dès 1248, par Jean Merez, qui suivit le seigneur de Crussol à la croisade, en qualité de cranequiniers. Gonon vivait à Crussol en 1378 et Jean en 1422. Rivoire de la Bâtie donne quelques notes sur cette famille, passée à Valence, Grenoble et Nîmes, à la suite de la vente que fit, en 1545, Jean Merez, de son fief de Merez. M. Brun-Durand, dans son Dictionnaire biographique de la Drôme, nous donne d'intéressantes notes que nous lui empruntons en partie: Merez (Salomon I de), controversiste, vraisemblablement né à Valence, appartenait à une famille noble du Vivarais que l'on fait remonter au XIIIème siècle, mais qui tomba ensuite dans un tel état de gêne, que l'aïeul de celui qui nous occupe, ayant été contraint de vendre le manoir de Merez, dont les ruines se voient encore au couchant de Crussol. Salomon épousa: 1°, le 15 juin 1593, Françoise de Deau; 2°, suivant contrat, du 8 octobre 1611, Jeanne de Serres, fille de Jean, docteur en théologie et historiographe du roi, frère d'Olivier de Serres. Leurs fils, Salomon II, docteur ès droits en l'Université de Valence, laissa six enfants de deux mariages, le preimier avec Antoinette Prompsal, de Romanas, contracté, le 28 juin 1643, le second avec Jeanne des Isles, fille de Jacques, seigneur de Montalembert et nièce de Maurice Bressieu. ...
