Procede este linaje de un caballero francés llamado Pedro de M., que por el año de gracia de 1149 pasó desde su patria a Aragón para ayudar en sus luchas contra los moros al intrépido Raimundo Berenguer, Conde de Barcelona y Rey consorte de Aragón por haber casado con la Reina doña Petronila, hija del Rey don Ramiro II, "el Monje", y de la esposa de éste doña Inés de Potiers. Dicho Conde Raimundo Berenguer, deseando que el mencionado caballero y sus descendientes permanecieran siempre en Aragón, le cedió para él y para sus hijos, el alcázar o casa fuerte llamada de Vinacorba, con el palacio anejo y con todos sus adherentes, castillos, huertos, casas y pagos, "desde el agua que fluye por el Torrente hasta la parte que mira al mediodía con las tierras y olivares que allí existen de la otra parte del monte hasta el camino de Monzón". Todas estas tierras se hallaban en la jurisdicción de la que después fué villa de Tamarite de Litera (Huesca), en cuya recuperación se distinguió mucho el mencionado Pedro M. De este estado, formado por tan numerosas propiedades, era Señor a fines del siglo XVI Juan M. de Vinacorba, natural de Tamarite de Litera, que desempeñó los oficios honoríficos de la villa, siendo insaculado en la bolsa de"Manomayor", o sea la de los caballeros. Hizo crecidas donaciones a la iglesia de Tamarite y fundó una sepultura para sí y para su familia, murió en 1623. Estuvo casado con doña Juana Arbul, a la que hizo madre de Francisco M. de Vinacorba. ...
