Nobility crown MotaÉ uma famílias mais antigas de Portugal pois, D. Mem de Gondar, natural das Astúrias, veio com o Conde D. Henrique no serviço da Rainha D. Teresa e foi grande privado de sue marido. Casou na Galiza com D. Goda, assistiu no concelho de Gestaçô e fundou o mosteiro de Gondar, de freiras da Ordem de S. Bento, e outro, sujeito a este, em Santa Maria Madalena de Cubelo; foi senhor de São Salvador de Lafões, alcaide de Celorico de Basto e fidalgo muito principal. Sepultou-se em Tolões. Teve vários, filhos, sucedendo-lhe D. Fernão Mendes de Gondar, um dos mais valoroso cavaleiros do seu tempo, que companhou D. Afonso Henriques à batalha do Campo de Ourique e a outras. Do seu matrimónio com D. Maria Anes teve por filho segundo Gomes Fernandes de Gondar, que viveu na terra de Olo, freguesia de S. Paio de Olo, concelho de Gestaço, casando-se com D. Teresa Moniz, filha de D. Moninho Dolo, alcaide de Celorico de Basto, da qual teve entre outros, a Rui Gomes de Gondar, chamado o da Mota por morar no lugar da Mota, em Vilela. Este se consorciuo com D. Mor Afonso, filha de Afonso Sanches Maravilha e de D. Teresa Rodrigues de Moreira, e teve geração de que proveio a linhagem dos Motas. A origem do apelido põem-na lugar acima referido outros na Quinta da Mota, freguesia de São Miguel da Fervença, no concelho de Celorico de Basto, e ainda outros na freguesia de São Martinho do Campo, do mesmo concelh, na Casa da Mota, que teve uma torre, ou em São Miguel de Travanca. ...
