Linaje de Aragón muy antiguo y de buenos hijosdalgo que se repartieron por diversas regiones de la península. Mosen Jaime Febrer cita a Sancho O., Caballero de Rodas (o de San Juan de Jerusalén), que sirvió en la conquista de Valencia en compañía del Vice-Maestre de su Orden. Dice que era natural de Argedes, en Cataluña; pero en los diccionarios geográficos que hemos consultado no figura ningún pueblo llamado Argedes. Es posible que haya error en esa cita de Febrer y que el mencionado caballero fuera natural de la hoy villa navarra de Arguedas, perteneciente al partido judicial de Tudela. Agrega dicho tratadista que era Sancho O. tan corpulento, que parecía un gigante, y que, unido ésto al valor y astucia con que peleaba, producía terror en los moros. También con signa Mosen Jaime Febrer, que siguió sus huellas un hermano suyo, dando nobles muestras de su clara sangre. A pesar de noticias que pudieron inclinar a suponer que los O. eran originarios de Cataluña, son muchos los testimonios que afirman que este apellido es netamente aragonés, aun cuando en tiempos antiguos pasó a Navarra, Cataluña, Valencia, Andalucía y Castilla. Algunos de sus caballeros tomaron parte en la conquista de Andalucía, asistiendo a las tomas de Úbeda y Baeza. Una de sus casas solares más pretéritas radicó en la ciudad de Zaragoza. Intervinieron en los bandos de Aragón a favor de los O. contra los Lunas en 1452, y en aquel tiempo pasó una de sus líneas a la villa de Cañete de la Sierra (Cuenca). ...
