Este es uno de los ocho linajes mozárabes de Toledo, nobles e ilustres, de los que descienden las familias apellidadas Toledo, Palomeque, Illán, Portocarrero, Gudiel, Cervatos, Roelas y Armildez. Así lo afirma Argote de Molina. Desde que los moros se apoderaron de la ciudad de Toledo hasta que el Rey don Alfonso VI de Castilla la reconquistó, pasaron cerca de cuatrocientos años, y durante ese tiempo los caballeros cristianos godos que en ella quedaron, no abandonaron su santa fe, ni perdieron su nobleza y caballería, pagando a los Reyes moros los tributos. Por vivir mezclados con los árabes, fueron llamados "mixti árabes", según testimonio del Arzobispo don Rodrigo, y después "mozárabes, y les era permitido oir misa en los templos de San Marcos. San Lucas, San Sebastián, San Torcuato, Santa Justa y Santa Eulalia, que se conservaron en Toledo desde el tiempo de los godos, y en los que modernamente se ha seguido diciendo la misa mozárabe en los días de sus advocaciones, como también en la capilla de Corpus Christi de su Catedral y en otras iglesias de España. Entre los antiguos varones de esta familia figura el Arzobispo don Gonzalo P., hermano, según Argote de Molina, de pero Días de Toledo, Adelantado de Cazorla, que fué heredado en la villa de Garcíez, de la provincia de Jaén, y que conservó su hacienda y casa con el apellido de Quesada por haber ganado a los moros la villa (hoy ciudad) de ese nombre, también perteneciente a la provincia de Jaén. Otra casa muy antigua. La casa de este apellido es de las mas antiguas y calificadas de la ciudad de Toledo, de cuya casa fué uno de los ilustrísimos arzobispos de dicha ciudad. ...
