La familia S. procede de Cataluña. Varios antiguos caballeros y señores descendientes de la misma vistieron el hábito de la Orden de San Juan de Jerusalén, en el Gran Priorato de aquella región. Y una de sus ramas pasó a Mallorca, donde ya radicaba en principios del siglo XV. Bernardo de S. era jurado de la ciudad de Palma y de aquel reino, por el estamento de ciudadanos, en 1411, y por la misma clase lo fueron también Luis de S., en 1492, y Juan Odón de S., en 1524, 1528 y 1542. En la capilla de San Buenaventura de la ciudad de Palma existió, hasta la supresión de las Ordenes religiosas, un magnífico sepulcro de bronce que tenía esta inscripción: "Feta fon esta pedra en Flandes per lo honrad Nantoni de S. en lo añy 1400 mori dit añy". A mediados del siglo XVI acabó en Mallorca esta familia, pasando a sucederla la de Juliá. Las armas las describe Bover y así también figuran en un sello de Roger S., que data del año 1579 y se conserva en el Archivo de la Corona de Aragón. Una rama de la casade esta familia, en Viguera pasó a la villa de Otura, del partido judicial de Santafé y provincia de Granada, y luego a esta ciudad y a la de Sevilla, para quedar más tarde establecida en Granada. ...
