Elle remonte sa filiation suivie à Etienne père de Denis allié le 8 janvier 1558 à Catherine Dufour, d'où deux fils: l'un Jean, tige de la branche dite du Chambon, fixée vers 1598 en Vivarais et dont un membre seigneur du Noyer, ancien gendarme de la garde du roi, figura sur la liste des assemblées de la noblesse de cette province en 1789; l'autre, Antoine, marié en 1587, à Marguerite de la Franchère, auteur de la branche restée en Velay qui a produit: Jean-Pierre, conseiller du roi au bailliage de ce pays, siège de Montfaucon, marié vers 1625 à Louise du Lac; Pierre et jean, gentilshommes, qui obtinrent des rois Louis XIII et Louis XIV des privilèges spéciaux par lettres du 26 décembre 1629 et 30 juin 1646; plusieurs docteurs en médecine; une supérieure du monastère de Montfaucon (1708-1720); des avocats en parlement et juges de Dunières; divers officiers, l'un d'eux gendarme de la garde du roi, marié en 1769 à Rose de Chambarlhac, d'où postérité en Velay, éteinte dans les Pissis et branche dans le Garde, encore existante. La distinction familiale représentée ici sous forme de blason, survit à travers les siècles grâce à des précieux témoignages qui nous ont permis de rapporter les exploits et les gestes de cette noble famille.
