La casa solar de U., originalmente Uria y luego U., estaba sita, desde tiempo inmemorial, en el barrio de Larrauri, que pertenece al Ayuntamiento de Munguía, en el partido judicial de Guernica (Vizcaya). Su rama principal moró en el lugar de Gámiz, del citado partido de Guernica, y en la villa de Bilbao, y pasó al Nuevo Reino de Granada (Colombia) radicando en Santa Fe de Bogotá. En mediados del siglo XVII era descendiente directo de dicha casa solar, Domingo de U., que casó con doña María Pérez de Laguchia, y fueron padres de: Martín de U. y Laguchia, que fué vecino de Gámiz y contrajo matrimonio con doña Francisca de Ormaechea, a la que hizo made de: Pablo de U. y Ormaechea, bautizado en Gámiz el 7 de Abril de 1722. Celebró su enlace en Bilbao el 16 de Junio de 1740 con doña Joaquina de Vitoria y Goiri, bautizada en la iglesia de Abando el 30 de Mayo de 1721, y de esa unión nació: Juan Antonio de U. y Vitoria, nacido en Bilbao el 6 de Noviembre de 1750 y bautizado al día siguiente en la parroquia de los Sanjuanes. Pasó al Nuevo Reino de Granada y fué el fundador de esta distinguida familia en Colombia. Antes de partido de España incoó expediente de vizcainía en la Chancillería de Valladolid, ganando Real provisión el 26 de Junio de 1790. En Santa Fe de Bogotá desempeñó los cargos de Capitán de Milicias y Alcade ordinario de aquella ciudad, en la que casó, en su Iglesia Metropolitana, el 28 de Diciembre de 1788, con señora doña María de la Concepción Zornoza y Peñalver. ...
