The clear nobility of the family, known as Wyl or Von Wyl, is confirmed by its presence in the valuable work "Armorial Général" of the Dutch heraldist and genealogist JB Rietstap (12 May 1828–24 December 1891), a monumental work that contains the blazons of the coats of arms of more than 130,000 European families.
