Heraldische Spur die Familie: Briffa
Krone des Adels Briffa Ancient and noble family from the Isle of Malta, of clear and ancestral virtue, that has worldwide spread, over the centuries. The two main branches went one to Italy and one to Spain. The one that went to Spain settled in Valencia. Crispo Bárbaro, in his "Nobiliario" of 1883, quotes a Mrs. Carmen Briffa, daughter of E. Batta, military man, living in 1657, Fr Luigi, of the Order of Preachers, living in Messina, in 1682; Pietro Antonio, praetorian judge of Palermo; Giacomo, captain of arms, living in Palermo, in 1719; Tommaso Maria, notary in Palermo, living in 1727; Filippo, juror in Messina, living in 1732; Giovanni, lieutenant of the Royal Army; Giusto, ambassador to the Court of Sicily, in the East, flourishing in 1811. Family names so old, without any doubt, honour not only the families but also the cities that welcomed them; seems to be, in fact, very worthy the living members of this family which, with much decorum, carry this noble surname, which has had several illustrious persons.
