Nobility crown PanfiliAntichissima famiglia patrizia romana, detta Panfili o Pamphili, originaria di Gubbio, ove ottenne, nel 1461, con Iacopo e Francesco, il titolo comitale del Sacro Romano Impero, trasferitasi a Roma con un Antonio, protetto da Sisto IV. Divenuto papa (1644) il nipote di Antonio, Giovan Battista, col nome di Innocenzo X, i Panfili acquistarono nella nobiltà romana posto preminente, contribuendo con la loro grande ricchezza al fasto della Roma secentesca. Inoltre, assorbirono, grazie al matrimonio di Camillo, con Olimpia Aldobrandini, nel 1647, feudi e ricchezze degli Aldobrandini. Il detto conte Camillo (Napoli, 1622 - Roma, 1666), nipote del Papa Innocenzo X, figlio di Pamfilio e di Olimpia Maidalchini, fu nominato dallo zio generale della Chiesa, comandante della flotta, governatore di Borgo e infine (1644) cardinal nipote.
