Ancienne famille vénitienne, de vertu claire et ancestrale, répartie au cours des siècles dans diverses régions d'Italie. L'origine de ce patronyme, selon d'illustres généalogistes, doit être recherchée dans la portée germanique médiévale "Ardicionus", (de *hardhu = fort, vaillant), qui appartenait probablement à un géniteur aujourd'hui inconnu. En tout cas, probablement, il a été décoré de la chevalerie, suite à la participation, caractérisée par le courage et l'honneur, sous les bannières de la Sainte Ligue, d'un Pietro ARDIZZON, au célèbre fait d'armes de la bataille de Lépante, en 1571 Mais, en revanche, la famille a toujours su se distinguer, grâce aux hautes personnalités auxquelles elle a donné naissance. Parmi ceux-ci, on se souvient : Giorgio, un soldat de fortune au service de la Sérénissime, vivant en 1569 ; Filippo, conseiller du Sénat de Vénétie, vivant en 1666 ; P. Rodolfo, de Venise, de l'Ordre des Prêcheurs, auditeur et prévôt de son ordre,
