Antica ed assai nobile famiglia emiliana da Bologna. Un Claudio di Giovanni Antonio fu anziano del Comune nel 1458. Giovanni Filoteo, letterato, scrisse un libro di poesie italiane tra la fine del XV ed il principio del XVI secolo. Achille, fratello del precedente, lesse filosofia nello studio di Padova e fu concorrente del famoso Pomponaccio. Claudio di Clearco Dottore di leggi e Professore nello studio di Ferrara, morì nel 1640, ultimo di sua famiglia. L'antica nobiltà della famiglia Acchillini è confermata dalla presenza del blasone (descrizione dello stemma nobiliare) nei più autorevoli archivi araldici Italiani quali il "Dizionario storico blasonico delle famiglie nobili e notabili italiane estinte e fiorenti" vol.I, compilato dal Comm. G.B. di Crollalanza, edito presso la direzione del giornale araldico, Pisa 1888.
