Antica famiglia di Conversano che si crede discenda dalla omonima famiglia toscana di cui si hanno memorie in Arezzo e in Firenze ove diede gonfalonieri e priori a quella repubblica. Fu detta anche d'Accolti e Bonaccolti. Appartennero a tale famiglia: Michele, celebre giureconsulto; Francesco duo figliuolo detto il Sottile ed il principe dei giureconsulti; Pietro, arcivescovo di Ravenna; Benedetto, cardinale nel 1527. Questo ramo si estinse con Jacopo morto in Firenze nel 1699. La famiglia di Conversano fondò un beneficio ecclesiastico sotto il titolo di S. Biase in Conversano fin dallo scorcio del sec. XV. Questa famiglia aggiunse al proprio cognome quello di Gil per il matrimonio di Giov. Battista con Grazia Gil, ultima di tale casato. E un Biagio fu conte palatino e cavaliere aurato nel 1723; un altro Biagio soffrì di persecuzioni e carcere per i moti del 1848. Furono riconosciuti nobili nel 1884. La presenza del motto
