Michele sul cadere del XVIII secolo era capitano di vascello, si distinse grandemente nel 1799 in occasione dell'assedio di Ancona, poi nel 1813 e 1814 fu comandante della flottiglia austriaca sul lago di Garda, e quindi nel 1824 e 1825 dell'i.r. squadra destinata a proteggere la navigazione nel Levante, e per i suoi eminenti servizi l'Imperatore d'Austria con diploma 12 Aprile 1827 gli accordò la nobiltà col predicato di Königsfeld, nel 1828 lo fregiò dell'Ordine di seconda classe della Corona di Ferro, e gli concesse in fine, con diploma 31 Maggio 1829 il grado e titolo di barone dell'Impero Austriaco, trasmissibile a tutti i suoi discendenti di ambo i sessi. Egli era nato nel 1774 nel Porto di Fermo (Marche).
