Don Alonso Pérez de A., llamado el Portugués por ser de Portugal, vino al servicio del rey Don Alonso VI y le prestó señalados servicios, distinguiéndose principalmente en la conquista de Toledo, año 1086, y fué principal ascendiente de la noble casa de A. en España. De esta ilustre casa fué el esclarecido varón Don Alonso de A. patriarca de Alejandría y arzobispo de Santiago, que sirvió con celo, fervor y acrisolada lealtad a los reyes católicos Don Fernando y Doña Isabel, quienes le colmaron de merecedes. Tuvo este esclarecido varón por hijos a Don Diego de A., que casó con Doña Francisca de Zúñiga, condesa de Montercuy, y a Don alonso de Fonseca, que fué gran prelado y a la vez valerosísimo caballero, y obtuvo la elevada dignidad de arzobispo de Santiago y de Toledo y primado de las Españas.
