Della famiglia Acquarone, detta anticamente anche De Corone o Accorroni, si trova menzione in un atto del 1145 in Oneglia: nei pressi di questa città è un monte che conserva il medesimo nome di Acquarone. Questo casato è fiorito in quei luoghi dal secolo XII sino ad oggi; ma, essendo andata perduta, per disordini demagogici e bellici degli ultimi anni del secolo XVIII, la più parte de' documenti da essa serbati, le memorie precedenti al sec. XVI sono talora confuse ed incerte. Da Giovanni, vivente in quel secolo, per le successive generazioni di Giovan Battista (1595), Bernardo, Tommaso, Bernardo, Paolo Filippo, Giuseppe, Tommaso, Paolo Filippo, Tommaso, la linea giunse all'inizio del sec. XIX, ai fratelli Paolo Filippo e Giacomo Filippo, figli dell'ultimo Tommaso. Il re Carlo Alberto nel 1837, con lettere patenti date in Torino (16 settembre), riconoscendo la chiarezza del "casato d'Acquarone di Porto Maurizio, che da più secoli
