Oriunda da Grécia, Constantine Alidosi, senador e escriba do imperador Justiniano, transplantou-o para a Itália e estabeleceu-o na cidade de Ímola, da qual de 1272 a 1424 ele exerceu o comando soberano. Ela era a dama de muitos feudos, de Castelrio, Massa, Fornione, Fossignano, Fontana e outros. Entre seus muitos homens ilustres, Carlo, Lipo e Guglielmo eram Bispos de Ímola: um Alidosio em 1332, Bispo de Rimini, Riccardo duas vezes Senador Romano e Francesco di Giovani, Arcebispo de Bolonha, ligado ao lado de Júlio II e Cardeal. . Um Ala degli Alidosi levou sua família para Ravena: outro ramo floresceu na cidade de Forlì e se extinguiu nas facções dos Ordelaffi, passando por Siena. Em 1398, um Ludovico Alidosi, estando em Veneza, foi declarado nobre pelo Conselho Ducal e um Rizzardo estabeleceu sua família em Vicenza depois de perder o castelo de Fossignano no de Ímola, e foi atribuído a
