La famiglia, di origine francese, discende dai Signori di Villacardé de Fleurj marchesi di S. Trivier Mortelongue. Francesco di Piero, prese parte alla liberazione di Rodi, insieme ad Amedeo V di Savoia nel 1308. Piero Eusebio fu capitano al servizio dei duchi di Savoia, quindi dei Visconti, come lo furono Ottavio e Girolamo. Da un Fioravante De Fleurj furono detti Fioravanti. Cristoforo, celebre viaggiatore, intraprese con Nicolò Michiel un viaggo sino al Capo Nord, tra l'anno 1492 e 1497. Benedetto fu Conservatore di Roma nel 1666, carica coperta più tardi da altri di questa casa fino al 1845 in cui divenne conservatore il marchese Alessandro. Nel 1641 Odoardo fu capitano di corazze al servizio di Filippo IV Re di Spagna; Carlo fu vescovo di Rieti nel 1814; Pompeo colonnello delle truppe pontificie, ricevette a Viterbo l'Imperatore d'Austria e fu comandante delle Legazioni di Ferrara, Bologna, Ravenna.
