Ancienne et très noble famille du royaume de Sicile appelée Agliata ou Alliata, avec des branches familiales réparties en Toscane ornées d'innombrables titres nobles. La tradition veut que cette famille descende du peuple Allia ou Ellia, de l'époque de la république romaine, qui, ayant eu Zecchieri, a frappé leur nom sur les pièces de monnaie. Il y a des souvenirs d'un Dazio, seigneur d'Angleria, et bien plus tard des seigneurs Agliata de Candia, à l'époque de l'empereur Constantin. La famille est partie de Milan à Pise en raison de désaccords avec les familles Lavelli et Abaguzzani. Il passa en Sicile en 1300 de Pise, où il fut l'une des premières familles. Il a joui de la noblesse dans les villes de Milan, Palerme, Pise, Noto et en Grèce. Il a été reçu dans l'ordre de Malte en 1530. Il y en a aussi des monuments à Palerme dans les églises
