Antiga e muito nobre família do Reino da Sicília chamada Agliata ou Alliata, com ramos familiares espalhados pela Toscana adornados com inúmeros títulos nobres. Diz a tradição que esta família descende do povo Allia ou Ellia, da época da república romana, que, tendo tido Zecchieri, carimbou o seu nome nas moedas. Há memórias de um Dazio, senhor de Angleria, e muito mais tarde dos senhores Agliata de Candia, na época do imperador Constantino. A família foi de Milão para Pisa devido a desentendimentos com as famílias Lavelli e Abaguzzani. Ele passou para a Sicília em 1300 de Pisa, onde foi uma das primeiras famílias. Ele gozou de nobreza nas cidades de Milão, Palermo, Pisa, Noto e na Grécia. Foi recebido pela ordem de Malta em 1530. Também há monumentos dele em Palermo nas igrejas de S. Francesco, S.
