La tradizione, raccolta negli atti della Comunità del Finale che la famiglia Agnini sia originaria di Napoli donde sarebbe partita al tempo della rivoluzione di Tomaso Aniello, detto Masaniello. Ciò che per certo è che sul finire del 1600 si stabilì nel Finale nella persona di un certo Paolo del fu Agnelo o Agnello, la cui discendenza assunse il cognome Agnini. Il nominato Paolo per le sue benemerenze ottenne di essere aggregato alla cittadinanza del Finale ed iscritto nel novero dei Conservatori. La concessione di nobile del Finale fu largita a Giovanni e a Stefano Agnini dalla Comunità del Finale, il 22 dicembre 1820. Altro ramo. Famiglia di Fivizzano, dove fino dal 1633 godeva dei primi onori e magistrature: ottenne l'ascrizione alla Nobiltà di Pontremoli (maschi e femmine) in persona di Francesco di Ginesio, per decreto 4 febbraio1781. Francesco Antonio di Ginesio e discendenti.
