Antica famiglia udinese, che riconosce per proprio capo stipite un Gaspare Piccolo, vivente a Udine nel 1460 (forse dello stesso sangue degli udinesi Piccoli, divenuti poi conti di Manzano ed estinti nei conti di Brazza' sui primi dell'Ottocento), i figli del quale, Leonardo cancelliere patriarcale e legato dal Patriarca di Aquileia Marino Grimani al re Ferdinando in Augusta (1513), e Girolamo, assunsero, forse per primi, il cognome Agricola. Molti membri di questa famiglia si diedero all'avvocatura e al notariato, professioni distinte, che ben presto procurarono alla famiglia l'aggregazione alla nobiltà udinese, ciò che avvenne ai 23 aprile 1645 nella persona di Lucrezio (n. 1616), il quale fu eletto più volte deputato della Comunità.
