Antico ed assai nobile casato di Spagna, di chiara ed avita virtù, propagatosi, nel corso dei secoli, in diverse regioni d'Europa e del Mondo, con un particolare insediamento in Argentina. La chiara nobiltà della casata risulta confermata dalla presenza, della sua blasonatura, nella pregevole opera "Repertorio de blasones de la comunidad hispánica - letras A-B-C-CH Vicente De Cadenas y Vicent Instituto Salazar y Castro". I primi riferimenti al casato si hanno già nel 1221, figurando alcuni membri della famiglia tra i nobiluomini che assistettero agli inizi dei lavori per la costruzione della cattedrale di Burgos. La casata compare anche in riferimento ai nobili che assistettero alla venuta in Madrid D. Carlos, principe di Galles, figlio di Jacobo I, al tempo di Felipe IV.
