Capostipite di questa famiglia fu un Domenico, di bassa condizione, nativo di S. Giorgio nella Lomellina ed impiegato al servizio delle stalle di Corte in Milano. Per aver scoperto nel 1415 una congiura a danno del duca Filippo Maria, si ebbe in premio dallo stesso duca molti beni e la concessione alla di lui famiglia del cognome e dell'arma della famiglia. Lasciò egli allora il cognome Aicardi, ed i suoi discendenti portarono sempre quello di V. Da lui nacquero Bartolomeo che nel 1429 fu eletto Vescovo di Novara da Martino V; Alessandro capitano d'uomini d'armi al servizio dei duchi di Milano; Andrea castellano di Carimate nel 1430, ascritto poi nel 1450 fra i decurioni di Novara; e Giorgio, il quale dal Duca Filippo-Maria nel 1415 ebbe molti beni alla Zelada con un porto sul Ticino, detto di Parasacco, poi comprò molti beni a Riozzo, ed in seguito, eletto famigliare ducale
