O progenitor dessa família era um Domenico, de baixa condição, natural de S. Giorgio nella Lomellina e empregado no serviço dos estábulos da Corte em Milão. Por ter descoberto uma conspiração em detrimento do duque Filippo Maria em 1415, ele recebeu muitos bens como prêmio e o sobrenome e a arma da família lhe foram concedidos. Ele então deixou o sobrenome Aicardi, e seus descendentes sempre carregavam o de V. Dele nasceu Bartolomeo que em 1429 foi eleito bispo de Novara por Martino V; Alessandro capitão de homens a serviço dos duques de Milão; Andrea Castellano di Carimate em 1430, mais tarde atribuída em 1450 às decuriões de Novara; e Giorgio, que do duque Filippo-Maria em 1415 possuía muitos bens na Zelada com um porto no Ticino, chamado Parasacco, comprou muitos bens em Riozzo e, mais tarde, elegeu a família ducal e entrou nas milícias, interveio em guerras frequentes apoiado
