De origem germânica, ela veio para a Itália após Federicxo II, que lhe deu o presente do feudo de Roccasecca, ao qual mais tarde foram adicionados os de Fumari e outros castelos. Foi agregado à nobreza napolitana mais conspícua e atribuído ao Seggio Capuano e ao do Porto. Raffaele Aiossa recebeu o título de marquês pelo rei Fernando II. Um Pietro desta casa foi eleito Bispo de Sessa em 1487. Outro ramo. Família de Gioiosa. Raffaele, Ministro de Estado, recebeu o título de marquês do rei Fernando II em 24 de outubro de 1853. Foi sucedido por seu filho Francesco, de quem Giovanni, que ao morrer deixou sua filha, casou-se com o príncipe de Monteroduni, Luigi Pignatelli. Foi agregado à mais alta nobreza napolitana e atribuído ao Seggio Capuano e ao do Porto.
